괌 국토안보·민방위 사무국(GHS/OCD)은 북한의 미사일 발사와 관련해 “괌이나 마리아나 제도에 대한 즉각적인 위협은 없다고 평가되지만, 이런 유형의 활동이 지난 몇 달 동안 더욱 빈번해지고 있기 때문에 경계를 늦추지 않는 것이 중요하다”고 밝혔습니다.
[괌 국토안보민방위 사무국] “Although no immediate threat was assessed for Guam or the Marianas, it is important to remain vigilant as this type of activity has been more prevalent in the previous months,” said Homeland Security Advisor, Samantha Brennan. “For information on how to prepare for all hazards and all threats, visit ghs.guam.gov where fact sheets were made readily available.”
괌 당국은 16일 사만다 브레넌 국토안보 고문을 인용해 발표한 성명에서 “모든 위험과 위협에 대한 대처 방안”을 담은 웹사이트를 소개하면서 이렇게 전했습니다.
이어 “괌 국토안보·민방위 사무국은 마리아나 지역융합센터(MRFC)와 미 연방, 군사 파트너들과 협력해 오늘 북한에서 미확인 발사체가 발사됐다는 보도를 포함해 역내에서 발생한 사건들을 계속 감시하고 있다”고 설명했습니다.
[괌 국토안보민방위 사무국] “The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in conjunction with the Mariana Regional Fusion Center (MRFC), federal and military partners, continue to monitor events surrounding the region including reports of the recent launch of an unidentified projectile out of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), today.”
평양에서 괌까지의 거리는 3천400여km로 최대 사거리 4천500~5천km로 추정되는 북한의 IRBM 사정권 안에 있습니다.
앞서 미 태평양공군사령부는 지난달 15일, 미 본토에 있던 전략폭격기 B-52H 4대를 태평양 괌 기지에 전개한 사실을 공개한 바 있습니다.
