유럽연합(EU)이 최근 북한의 탄도미사일 발사를 규탄하고 북한에 비핵화를 향한 행동에 나설 것을 촉구했습니다.
EU 대변인실은 21일 최근 북한의 잠수함발사탄도미사일(SLBM)발사에 대한 논평 요청에 북한이 탄도미사일을 발사함으로써 또다시 유엔안보리 결의를 위반했다고 지적했습니다.
그러면서 북한이 대화를 재개하고 역내 평화와 안보를 보장하려는 국제사회의 노력을 거듭 무시하고 있는데 대해 깊은 유감을 표시하면서, EU는 북한에 유엔 안보리 결의들에 따른 의무를 준수하고 대화 환경을 해치는 모든 행동을 자제할 것을 촉구한다고 덧붙였습니다.
[EU 대변인]”The DPRK has yet again violated UN Security Council resolutions by launching a ballistic missile. The EU deeply regrets that the DPRK’s is repeatedly disregarding the efforts of the international community to resume dialogue and ensure peace and security in the region.The EU calls on the DPRK to comply with its obligations under UN Security Council Resolutions and refrain from all actions that undermine the environment for dialogue.”
또한 EU는 북한이 미국과 한국이 표명한 외교적 준비태세에 건설적으로 대응하고 비핵화를 위한 행동에 나설 것을 촉구한다고 밝혔습니다.
[EU 대변인]”The EU urges the DPRK to respond constructively to the readiness for diplomacy expressed by the United States and the Republic of Korea and engage in actions towards denuclearisation.”
이어 EU는 의미 있는 새로운 외교적 절차를 적절한 방식으로 지원할 준비가 돼 있다고 강조하고,북한이 대량살상무기와 탄도미사일, 기존 핵 프로그램을완전하고 검증 가능하며 되돌릴 수 없는 방식으로 포기하는 목표에 전념하고 있다고 EU 대변인은 말했습니다.
[EU 대변인]The EU stands ready to support any meaningful new diplomatic process in an appropriate manner. The EU is committed to the objective of the DPRK abandoning its weapons of mass destruction, ballistic missile and existing nuclear programmes in a complete, verifiable and irreversible manner. Until the DPRK complies with its obligations under UN Security Council Resolutions, the EU will continue to implement sanctions strictly while encouraging the international community to do the same.”
아울러 이 대변인은 EU는 북한이 유엔 안보리 결의에 따른 의무를 준수할 때까지 계속해 엄격한 제재를 이행하는 한편국제사회도 이와 같이 행동하길 독려할 것이라고 말했습니다.
