- ‘Scrumptious’는 ‘delicious’, ‘tasty’, 와 같은 뜻이죠! ‘맛있는’이란 뜻입니다.
그래서 ‘That was a scrumptious dinner.’ 는 ‘That was a wonderful meal.’ 또는 ‘The dinner was very good (delicious, tasty) 의미입니다. ‘저녁 정말 맛있었어.’라는 뜻이죠.
반대로, 저녁 정말 맛이 없었어, 영어로는 ‘The dinner was awful.’ 또는 ‘That was a terrible dinner’ 할 수 있죠.

- Let me do something, 은 내가 ~(무엇 무엇) 할게 라는 뜻인데요, Let me 다음에는 동사 원형이 나오죠. 그래서, let me 다음에, ‘물어보다’는 뜻의 동사 ‘ask’ 가 나왔습니다. ‘Let me ask for the check’, 내가 계산서 달라고 할게 라는 말입니다.
그럼 내가 너한테 뭐 하나만 물어볼게, Let me 동사 원형을 써서 나타내면, ‘Let me ask you something’ 하면 됩니다. 또 ‘내가 뭐 하나만 말해 줄게’영어로 하면, ‘Let me tell you this’, ‘Let me tell you something’할 수 있죠.

- 식당에서 음식을 다 먹고, 웨이터나 웨이트리스에게 계산서를 달라고 할 때 쓰실 수 있는 표현입니다. ‘May we get our check, please?’ 이 표현 말고 또 그냥 간단하게, ‘check, please!’ 해도 되고요, ‘Check’ 대신에 또 ‘계산서’라는 뜻의 단어죠? ‘Bill’을 써서, ‘May we get the bill?’하셔도 됩니다.
이밖에, ‘Could I get the check, please?’, ‘We are ready to pay’, 같은 표현도 모두 ‘계산서 좀 주시겠어요?’ 라고 물어볼 때 쓸 수 있는 표현입니다.

또 ‘Let me get this’, ‘It’s my treat’해도 ‘내가 낼게’ 라는 뜻이 됩니다.
계속해서, I owe you dinner anyway, 말 그대로 해석하면요, owe, O W E 는 ‘(~누구 누구)에게 빚을 지다’는 뜻이죠? 그래서 내가 너에게 저녁을 빚졌잖니, You paid for the last dinner, 네가 지난 번에 저녁 샀었잖아. 라는 뜻입니다.

- 내가 새로 받은 신용 카드 한번 사용해 보고 싶기도 하고, 라는 말입니다.
신용 카드를 새로 받으면 카드를 바로 쓸 수 있는 게 아니라, 먼저 카드가 효력을 발생 할 수 있도록 해야 하는데요, 영어로는activate, 시킨다고 하죠?

카드가 효력을 발생할 수 있도록 하려면 카드 회사 웹사이트에 들어가시든지, 아니면 전화를 해서 지시 사항대로 하면 바로 카드를 사용할 수 있죠.
