목격자들에 따르면 담장이 높은 미국 영사관 부지 바깥에서 차에 타고 있던 3명의 공격요원이 뛰어 나와 경찰을 향해 총을 쏘면서 총격전이 발생했습니다. 3명의 공격요원과 경찰 3명이 사망했습니다.
이스탄불 보안군은 헬리콥터를 지원해 도망친 한 명을 쫒고 있습니다.

Turkish officials say they suspect al-Qaida is behind an attack that left six people dead outside the U.S. consulate in Istanbul.
The U.S. ambassador to Turkey (Ross Wilson) condemned the attack today (Wednesday) as an act of terrorism and said his staff is working closely with Turkish authorities on the investigation. He has not commented on the reports of al-Qaida's ties to the violence.
Witnesses say a gunfight erupted outside the high-walled U.S. consulate compound today when three assailants jumped from a car and began shooting at police. The three gunmen and three policemen died in the exchange.
Istanbul security forces, supported by helicopters, are searching for a fourth assailant who fled the scene.
It is unclear if Turkish police or the U.S. consulate were targets of the attack.
