뉴질랜드가 탄도미사일 발사 등 한반도 긴장을 고조시키는 북한의 행위에 대한 우려를 표시했습니다. 불법 선박 간 환적 등 북한의 해상 제재 회피 활동도 심각하게 받아들이고 있다고 밝혔습니다. 박동정 기자가 보도합니다.
뉴질랜드는 9일 “북한의 최근 탄도미사일 발사를 포함해 한반도 정세를 주시하고 있다”고 밝혔습니다.
[뉴질랜드 외무부 대변인] “Aotearoa New Zealand is monitoring developments on the Korean Peninsula, including North Korea’s recent ballistic launches. We are concerned about any incident that increases tensions on the Korean Peninsula.”
뉴질랜드 외무부 대변인은 이날 VOA에 보낸 이메일에서 관련 질문에 “우리는 한반도 긴장을 고조시키는 어떠한 사건에 대해서도 우려하고 있다”며 이같이 답했습니다.
그러면서 “우리는 북한이 긴장 완화와 비핵화를 향한 노력을 위해 국제사회와 건설적으로 관여할 것을 지속적으로 독려해 왔다”고 강조했습니다.
[뉴질랜드 외무부 대변인] “We have consistently encouraged North Korea to engage constructively with the international community to reduce tensions and to work towards denuclearisation. We continue to urge North Korea to take up offers of dialogue with the US and South Korea.”
또한 “우리는 북한이 미국, 한국과의 대화 제의를 받아들일 것을 계속 촉구한다”고 덧붙였습니다.
앞서 북한은 지난 1일 동해상으로 단거리 탄도미사일(SRBM) 1발을 발사했으며, 전날에도 동해상으로 단거리 탄도미사일(SRBM) 4발을 쏘아 올렸습니다.
한편 뉴질랜드 외무부 대변인은 “뉴질랜드는 유엔군사령부 군사정전위원회에 뉴질랜드 방위군(NZDF) 요원을 배치함으로써 한반도의 평화를 지원하는 데 전념하고 있다”고 밝혔습니다.
[뉴질랜드 외무부 대변인] “Aotearoa New Zealand remains committed to supporting peace on the Korean Peninsula through our deployment of NZDF personnel to the UN Command and its Military Armistice Commission. New Zealand is dedicated to full and effective implementation of all UN Security Council resolutions on North Korea, including the sanctions that these resolutions have mandated.”
아울러 “뉴질랜드는 결의들이 의무로 부과한 제재를 포함해 모든 유엔 안보리 대북 제재 결의의 완전하고 효과적인 이행에 전념하고 있다”고 설명했습니다.
특히 “불법적인 선박 간 환적 등 북한의 해상 제재 회피 활동을 심각하게 받아들이고 있다”고 지적했습니다.
[뉴질랜드 외무부 대변인] “We take North Korea maritime sanctions evasion activity such as illegal ship-to-ship transfers seriously. New Zealand has deployed a maritime surveillance aircraft five times since 2018 to North Asia as part of international efforts to detect and deter such activity.”
이어 “뉴질랜드는 이러한 활동을 탐지하고 저지하기 위한 국제적 노력의 일환으로 2018년부터 5차례에 걸쳐 해상 정찰기를 북아시아에 배치했다”고 말했습니다.
