성 김 국무부 대북특별대표가 2일부터 4일까지 서울을 방문해 미한일 북핵 수석대표 협의를 할 예정이라고 국무부가 밝혔습니다.
국무부는 1일 발표한 성명에서 성 김 대표와 후나코시 다케히로 일본 외무성 아시아대양주국장이 김건 한국 외교부 한반도평화교섭본부장이 주재하는 삼자 회의에 참여할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
[국무부 성명] “Together they will discuss a broad range of issues including the international community’s response to the DPRK’s recent intercontinental ballistic missile launches and the COVID-19 outbreak in the DPRK. Special Representative Sung Kim will also reiterate the U.S. commitment to seeking dialogue with the DPRK, while also continuing work with the international community to address the DPRK’s unlawful weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs.”
국무부는 “대표들이 북한의 최근 대륙간탄도미사일(ICBM) 발사들에 대한 국제사회의 대응과 북한 내 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증 발병 등 다양한 현안들을 논의할 것”이라고 밝혔습니다.
이어 “성 김 대표가 북한과 대화를 추구하면서 동시에 북한의 불법 대량살상무기와 탄도미사일에 대응해 국제사회와 계속 협력하려는 미국의 의지를 확인할 것”이라고 밝혔습니다.
[국무부 성명] “Special Representative Sung Kim’s travel to Seoul underscores the importance of ongoing close U.S. collaboration with the ROK and Japan on DPRK issues as we seek to advance complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.”
국무부는 “김 대표의 한국 방문은 한반도의 완전한 비핵화 진전을 모색하는 미국, 한국, 일본의 북한 문제에 대한 긴밀한 협력의 중요성을 강조한다”고 밝혔습니다.
