서양 사람들에 비해서 한국인들은 쫄깃쫄깃한 음식을 좋아하는 편이지요. 마른 오징어 구운 것이라든지, 쫄깃쫄깃한 냉면 같은 음식은 서양사람들한테는 너무 질긴 음식일지도 모르겠습니다. 질기다는 말을 영어로는 ‘chewy’라고 하는데요, 쇠고기 스테이크 같은 것이 질길 때는 ‘tough’라는 표현도 사용합니다.
