Have you ever heard people say “Let’s call it day, I’m tired let’s call it a day”? Call it a day Well, we’re going to find out by listening to today’s conversation. 대화를 한번 들어보세요!
Call it a day
Emily: I am exhausted. I have been working at this since 7:00 a.m. this morning.
Derek: Me, too. I think it’s time we call it a day.
Emily: I agree. Let’s go home.
Emily 가 많이 지쳤나 보네요. “I am exhausted. 나 완전히 지쳤어”라면서 “I have been working at this since 7:00 a.m. this morning. 오늘 아침 7시부터 일했다니까” 라고합니다. 그러자 Derek이 “Me, too. I think it’s time we call it a day. 나도 마찬가지야. 우리 이제 일을 마쳐도 될 것같아”라고 대답하네요. 이어서 Emily 는 Derek의 말에 “I agree 맞아, Let’s go home 집에 가자!”라고 맞장구 칩니다.

오늘의 영어 표현은 Call it a day / Call, C A L L / it I T / a A/ day D A Y Call it a day 입니다. Call it a day는 상황을 마무리하고 싶을 때 사용하면 좋은 표현입니다. Call it a day means that you end whatever you are doing, for example, work, play, or something else you are doing that day. 일을 마치거나 친구와 놀이를 끝낼 때 또는 그날 하던일을 마무리 할 때 사용할 수 있죠. 예를 한번 들어볼까요? 그날 하던 공부를 끝내고 친구에게 저녁을 먹으러 가자 할 때 “Let’s call it a day and go out for a dinner."와 같이 쓸 수 있는 겁니다.
