아프가니스탄 동부 코스트 지역에 있는 한 초등학교 부근에서 자살 폭탄 공격이 발생해 14명이 아이들을 포함해 16명이 숨졌다고 북대서양조약기구 나토 관계관들이 밝혔습니다.
나토는 성명을 통해 자살폭탄공격범이 28일 자폭하면서 이들 사망자 외에 적어도 58명이 다쳤다고 말했습니다.
관계관들은 사건 당시 미군 병사들 역시 이 건물에 있었으나 무사했다고 말했습니다.
이번 공격이 자신들의 소행이라고 즉각 자처하고 나선 측은 없었습니다.

NATO officials in Afghanistan say a suicide bomber has killed 16 people, including 14 children, near a primary school in the eastern province of Khost.
A NATO statement says at least 58 other people were wounded when the bomber detonated his explosives today (Sunday). It says the dead also includes one Afghan soldier.
Afghan officials say the bomber was attempting to attack a meeting of local officials in a nearby district headquarters building. They say he blew himself up prematurely when he was challenged.
Officials say U.S. troops also were in the building, but were not injured.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai and United Nations officials have condemned the attack.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
