납치된 시리우스 스타 호에는 25명의 선원이 탑승하고 있으며, 1억 달러 상당의 원유 2백만 배럴이 선적돼 있습니다. 해적들이 몸값을 얼마나 요구하고 있는지에 대해 공식적인 언급은 없습니다.
한편, 인도 군함이 아덴 만에서 소말리아 해적선 한 대를 침몰시켰다고 인도 해군 당국이 밝혔습니다. 인도 해군 관리들은 인도 해군 함정 "타바르"호가 18일 오만 남서부 지역의 사랄라 항구에서 해적선과 교전을 벌였다고 밝혔습니다. 인도 당국은 인도 군함이 해적선을 수색하기 위해 거듭 중지 명령을 내렸으나 해적선이 먼저 선제 공격을 해와 인도 군함이 응사했으며 결국 해적선이 침몰했다고 말했습니다.

Saudi Arabia's foreign minister says the owners of a hijacked Saudi oil tanker are negotiating with pirates holding the ship off the coast of Somalia.
Speaking in Rome today (Wednesday), Prince Saud Al-Faisal said his government does not like to negotiate with terrorists or hijackers, but he said the owners of the tanker are the "final arbiters" of what happens with the ship.
The hijacked tanker, the Sirius Star, is carrying 25 crew members and some two million barrels of oil worth about 100-million dollars. There has been no official word on how much ransom the pirates are demanding.
Meanwhile, the Indian Navy says one of its vessels has destroyed a suspected pirate "mother ship" in the Gulf of Aden.
A statement from India's Defense Ministry says the warship INS Tabar confronted the pirate vessel late Tuesday, southwest of the Omani port of Salalah.
The statement says the pirates fired on the Tabar after Indian officers asked to search it. It says the Tabar fired back, setting the ship ablaze and triggering explosions on board.
The loss of a so-called mother ship would be a blow to Somali pirates, who use such ships to transport gunmen and speedboats to targets far offshore.
