중국 최대 도시 가운데 하나인 남서부 충칭시에서 파업에 돌입한
수 백 명의 택시기사들이 차량들을 무차별적으로 파손했다고, 중국 관영 신화통신이 보도했습니다.
신화통신은 택시기사들이 연료 부족과 무자격 기사들과의 불공정한 경쟁, 그리고 교통법규 위반에 대한 과중한 벌금 등에 항의하고 있다고 전했습니다.
신화통신은 택시기사들이 파업에 동조하지 않는 기사들의 차량 유리창을 깨뜨리고, 일부 승객들을 택시에서 끌어냈다면서, 경찰차 3대를 포함해 적어도 20대의 차량이 파손됐다고 보도했습니다.
Hundreds of taxi drivers went on
strike and smashed vehicles in one of China's biggest cities today (Monday)during a rare outburst of protest.
The official Xinhua news agency says taxi drivers in southwest China's
Chongqing city were protesting fuel shortages, unfair competition from
unlicensed drivers, and high-priced traffic fines.
Xinhua says taxi drivers smashed the windows of cars belonging to other drivers
who tried to cross picket lines. Some passengers were pulled out of their
vehicles.
It also says at least 20 vehicles were damaged, including three police cars.
The protests left thousands stranded during the morning rush hour.
Strikes are rare in China where union activity is strictly controlled by the
Communist Party.
