매케인 후보는 4일 저녁의 후보수락 연설에서 변화를 촉구하고 공화당, 무소속, 아직 지지자를 결정하지 못한 유권자들에게 자신을 지지해 줄 것을 호소했습니다. 매케인 후보는 "구태의연하고 낭비하며, 하는 일은 없고 나를 먼저 생각하고 국가는 둘째라는 생각, 사람이 넘치는 워싱턴 정가"를 바로잡겠다고 다짐했습니다. 미네소타주 센트 폴에서 열린 공하당 전당대회의 마지막날인 어제 저녁 매케인 후보는 알라스카주의 사라 페인린 주지사를 부통령 후보로 하는 공화당의 대통령 후보로 공식 지명됐습니다. 참전 군인 출신인 아리조나주의 매케인 상원의원은 대통령으로써 민주당과 함께 일할 것과 초당적인 정치를 펴나갈 것을 다짐했습니다.
U.S. Senator John McCain has accepted the Republican presidential nomination with a call for change and an appeal for support from Republicans, independents and undecided voters.
McCain warned Thursday what he called the "old, big spending, do nothing, me first, country second, Washington crowd" that "change is coming" if he is elected in November.
He spoke on the final day of the Republican party's national convention in St. Paul, Minnesota that formally nominated him for president and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as Vice President.
The veteran Arizona lawmaker highlighted his record of working with Democrats, and pledged to continue bipartisanship as president and to end "constant partisan rancor" in Washington.
McCain said he has big differences with his opponent, Democrat Barack Obama. He said Obama has his respect and admiration, but he went on to say Obama will raise taxes and increase government spending.
A statement released by the Obama campaign said McCain ignored
the fact that the Arizona senator was part of the "do-nothing" crowd in Washington for nearly 30 years.
