미 백악관 국가안보회의의 데니스 와일더 아시아 담당 선임 보좌관은 양 정상은 미-중 경제 관계, 무역, 북핵, 그리고 여러 다른 지역 현안 등 광범위한 문제를 논의했다고 말했습니다.
후주석은 부시 대통령과의 만남에서 베이징의 한 관광지에서 미국 배구 대표팀의 코치의 장인이 사망한 것에 대해 유감을 표시하고 철저한 진상 조사를 약속했습니다.
와일더 보좌관은 양 정상이 중국의 인권 문제 역시 논의했으며, 후 주석은 중국내 종교의 자유에 대한 문이 열려있음을 시사하는 듯 했다고 덧붙였습니다.
부시 대통령은 이보다 앞서 베이징의 한 개신 교회의 예배에 참석했습니다. 부시 대통령과 영부인 로라 부시 여사 그리고 수행 일원들이 교회에 입장하자 교인들은 박수로 이들을 환영했습니다.
부시 대통령은 예배가 끝난 후 예배에 참석할 수 있는 기회를 갖게해 준데 대해 감사를 전했습니다.

U.S. President George Bush met with his Chinese counterpart, Hu Jintao, today (Sunday)before attending an Olympic basketball game between the U.S. men's team and host China.
U.S. National Security Council official Dennis Wilder says the bilateral talks touched on a wide-range of topics including U.S.-China economic relations, trade, as well as the denuclearization of North Korea and other regional issues.
During the meeting, Mr. Hu expressed his regret about the murder Saturday of the father-in-law of a U.S. men's volleyball coach in Beijing and promised a full investigation.
Wilder says the two also discussed human rights in China, adding that Mr. Hu seemed to indicate that the door was open on religion.
Mr. Bush met with the Chinese leader just hours after attending a Protestant church service in Beijing. Mr. Bush, first lady Laura Bush and other members of their group were greeted with applause from the congregation as they entered the church.
After the service, Mr. Bush thanked the congregation for the privilege of worshipping at their church.
