무가베 대통령은 지난달 결선투표에서 맞섰던 모간 창기라이 후보가 사퇴하며, 자신이 재임에 성공했다는 입장입니다. 하지만 야당은 정부가 후원한 폭력사태로 선거 전에 100명 이상이 숨졌다고 주장하고 있습니다.
한편 짐바브웨 여당과 야당은 2일 남아프리카 프리토리아에서 이틀째 협상을 벌였습니다.

Zimbabwe is saying that international sanctions against the ruling government could lead to civil war.The U.N. Security Council will meet again today (Friday) to consider a draft resolution that includes financial and travel restrictions against President Robert Mugabe and 13 others for violence leading up to last month's presidential vote.
Zimbabwe said in a letter to the United Nations that the sanctions could lead to the removal of the effective government of the country and bring a civil war.
President Mugabe says he won another term as president last month, in a one-candidate run-off election after opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai withdrew. The opposition said state-sponsored violence had killed more than 100 people before the election.
Members of Zimbabwe's ruling and opposition parties today (Friday) completed a second day of negotiations in Pretoria, South Africa.
