한승수 한국 국무총리는 1일 국무회의에서 한국경제에 대한 신뢰도가 급속히 떨어지고 있다고 지적했습니다. 한 총리는 정부가 미쇠고기 시중 판매를 재개함에 따라, 날로 과격양상을 보이는 시위를 모든 수단을 강구해서라도 진압할 것이라고 강조했습니다.
한편 지난 토요일 서울에서 벌어진 쇠고기 수입 반대 시위에서 20명 이상이 부상하고 최근 이삼일 간 130여명의 시위참가자가 체포됐습니다.

South Korea's government has warned that violent street rallies against U.S. beef imports could drive away foreign investors and hurt the country's economy.
Prime Minister Han Seung-soo told a cabinet meeting today (Tuesday) that the credibility of South Korea's economy is declining rapidly. He said every means should be used to clamp down on increasingly violent protests as the government has begun to release some American beef for sale in South Korea.
More than 200 people were injured during riots in the capital Seoul on Saturday. Police arrested about 130 protesters in the last few days.
Protests started after the South Korean government agreed in April to resume U.S. beef imports. In 2003, beef imports were banned after a case of mad cow disease was discovered in the United States.
