파키스탄 수도 이슬라마바드에서 법조인과 인권운동가 수천명이 해임된 대법원장의 복권을 요구하는 시위를 벌였습니다. 페르베즈 무샤라프 대통령은 지난해 11월 대법원장을 해임했습니다.
시위대는 13일 이슬라마바드에서 거리 행진을 한 뒤 의회 건물 주변에서 연좌시위를 벌였습니다. 한편 이번주 초에는 카라치에서 시위 차량이 집결해 라호르와 라왈핀디 등 주요 도시를 방문했었습니다.
법조인들은 연립 정부가 당초 지난달 12일까지 대법원장을 복권하겠다는 약속을 어긴 뒤, 대규모 시위를 계획했습니다.
한편 시위대는 평화적인 시위 의사를 밝혔지만, 파키스탄 당국은 폭력 사태에 대비해 수백명의 경찰을 출동시키고 주요 건물 주변에 철망과 감시카메라를 설치했습니다.

Thousands of Pakistani lawyers and activists -- demanding the reinstatement of judges fired by President Pervez Musharraf -- have descended on the country's capital.
The protesters' so-called "long march" culminated in Islamabad today (Friday) with a sit-in outside Pakistan's parliament building. The procession of vehicles started in Karachi earlier this week and traveled across the country, stopping in the cities of Lahore and Rawalpindi.
Lawyers decided to hold the mass protest after the coalition government failed to meet a self-imposed May 12th deadline to restore the judiciary.
Although lawyers have vowed a peaceful protest, Pakistani authorities have deployed hundreds of police and placed barbed wire and security cameras around key buildings in the capital to discourage violent protests.
