부시 대통령은 28일 콜로라도 주 콜로라도 스프링스에 있는 공군사관학교 졸업식 축사에서, 미국민에게 인내심을 가질 것을 촉구했습니다. 부시 대통령은 이라크와 아프간 정권을 축출한 미국은 두 나라를 안정시킬 의무가 있다고 말했습니다.
부시 대통령은 그같은 과제를 세계 2차대전 이후 독일과 일본 재건 작업에 비유하면서, 과거의 숙적들이 지금은 미국의 가장 강력한 동맹국이 됐다고 말했습니다.

U.S. President George Bush says the U.S. must not lose its resolve to rebuild Iraq and Afghanistan even though the job is difficult.
The president asked the country for patience today (Wednesday) as he delivered the commencement speech at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, (in the western state of) Colorado.
President Bush said the United States has an obligation to help bring stability to Iraq and Afghanistan after ousting their regimes. He compared the task to the U.S. effort to rebuild Germany and Japan after World War Two.
Mr. Bush said the onetime "mortal enemies" are now strong U.S. allies. President Bush acknowledged the challenge is different now because U.S. troops are still under fire in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The president told the graduates the great mission of their generation is to lead the course of freedom.
