유엔 안보리 상임이사국인 3개 서방 강대국들과 독일은 러시아에 대해 옛 소련공화국 그루지아 내 분리독립 세력들과 더 긴밀한 관계를 구축하겠다는 계획을 철회하라고 촉구했습니다.
미국과 영국, 프랑스, 그리고 독일은 어제 유엔 안전보장이사회 회의를 마친후 발표한 성명에서 그루지아의 주권을 지지한다는 입장을 거듭 확인하며 이같이 밝혔습니다.
이들 서방 국가들은 그루지아의 동의 없이 분리독립 세력인 남오세티아와 압카지아와 관계를 구축하려는 러시아의 결정에 대해 매우 우려하고 있다고 덧붙였습니다.

Four major Western powers in the U.N. Security Council are calling on Russia to revoke plans to establish closer ties to two Georgian separatist regions.
Britain, France, Germany, and the United States issued a statement after a council meeting Wednesday reaffirming their commitment to Georgian sovereignty.
They say they are highly concerned with Russia's decision to establish ties with separatists in Abkhazia and South Ossetia without Georgia's consent.
The Western counties also criticized the apparent shooting down of an unmanned Georgian spy plane over Abkhazia as an act that risks elevating tension in the region.
Georgia asked for the special Security Council meeting last week when Russian President Vladimir
Putin called for stronger ties to Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Georgia calls it a "de facto annexation" and a violation of international law.
Russia's U.N. Ambassador Vitaly Churkin said Wednesday there is nothing anti-Georgian about the move and denies it is breaking the law.
Russia also denies Georgia's charge that it shot down the spy plane over Abkhazia.
