미국 민주당 대통령 선거 예비후보인 바락 오바마 상원의원은 추후 예비선거들에 선거 운동을 집중하겠다며 힐러리 클린턴 상원 의원에 대해 더 이상 부정적인 공세를 가하지 않겠다고 23일 밝혔습니다.
오바마 상원의원은 한 라디오 방송인터뷰에서 그가 더욱 부정적인 선거운동을 펼칠 것이라는 미국 신문 '워싱턴포스트'의 보도를 반박하며 이같이 밝혔습니다.
힐러리 클린턴 상원의원은 22일 펜실베니아주 예비선거에서 오바마 상원의원에 대해 10% 포인트에 가까운 표차로 승리했습니다.
뉴욕주 출신 상원의원이자 전직 대통령 영부인인 클린턴 상원의원은 백인과 노동자 계층, 노년층 표의 상당수 뿐 아니라 마지막순간에 표심을 정한 유권자들의 표도 얻었습니다.
바락 오바마 상원의원은 흑인과 고소득층, 민주당 신입 당원들로부터 지지를 받았습니다.
클린턴 상원의원은 미국 NBC 방송 등에 출연해 출구조사 결과는 자신이 대통령 당선에 필요한 선거인단을 구성할 수 있음을 보여줬다며 자신의 이번 승리는 사실상 공화당 대통령 후보로 확정된 존 맥케인 상원의원을 이길 수 있다는 것을 보여줬다고 말했습니다

U.S. Democratic Party presidential hopeful Barack Obama says he does not plan to take a more negative tone against his opponent, Hillary Clinton, as their campaigns focus on upcoming contests.
In a radio interview, Senator Obama today (Wednesday) rejected a report in "The Washington Post" newspaper saying he is likely to run a more negative campaign.
He said he plans to stay consistent with talking about issues as he courts voters in Indiana and North Carolina, which will hold primaries on May sixth.
Senator Clinton beat Obama Tuesday in the hotly contested Pennsylvania primary by nearly 10 percentage points.
She won a majority of whites, working class and older voters, as well as voters who decided within the past week. Obama was favored by blacks, higher income voters and newly-registered Democrats.
Clinton said in television interviews today (on NBC's Today Show and CBS's Early Show) that her victory shows she can build the electoral base needed to win the White House.
