클린턴 의원은 몇 주전 남편이자 전직 대통령인 빌 클린턴 씨가 사우스 캐롤라이나에서 인종적으로 민감한 발언을 한 것에 대해 사과했습니다.
빌 클린턴 전직 대통령은 사우스 캐롤라이나 예비선거가 끝난 이후 흑인 유권자가 많은 사우스 캐롤라이나에서 버락 오바마 상원의원이 승리한 이유는 그가 흑인이기 때문이라는 발언을 해 물의를 빚은 바 있습니다.
이후 힐러리 클린턴 후보는 모든 예비선거 전에서 오바마 후보에게 흑인 표를 뺐겼습니다. ‘연례 흑인 대회’가 열린 루이지아나도 예외가 아닙니다.

New York Senator Hillary Clinton has attended the annual State of the Black Union Conference, where she acknowledged there had been painful moments in the U.S. presidential race.
She offered regrets Saturday for remarks her husband made in South Carolina several weeks ago, which many people perceived as racially insensitive.
Former president Bill Clinton angered many people after South Carolina's primary by inferring suggesting his wife's Democratic rival Barack Obama had won the state simply because he was an African-American candidate campaigning in a state with a large number of black voters.
Since then, Senator Clinton has lost the black vote to Obama in every nominating contest, including Louisiana - the site of this year's Black Union Conference.
Clinton was the only presidential hopeful to attend the meeting. All the major presidential contenders were invited.
