Japanese officials say Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will visit Japan in late February to discuss a larger role by Tokyo in the Middle East peace process.
A Foreign Ministry statement today (Friday) says Mr. Olmert will arrive in Tokyo February 25th for a four-day visit. It says he will hold talks with Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda and other Japanese officials.
Mr. Olmert is expected to discuss a Japanese plan to build an agro-industrial park intended to help create economic stability for Palestinians in the West Bank. Discussions on the initiative also include Israel, Jordan and the Palestinian Authority.
Mr. Olmert's visit to Japan will mark the first by an Israeli prime minister in 11 years.
