이라크 북부도시 바이지에서 차량을 이용한 자살폭탄 공격이 발생해 적어도 7명이 숨지고 13명이 다쳤습니다.
이라크 경찰은 바그다드 북쪽 250 km 떨어진 이 도시의 주거지역에서 폭탄이 폭발해 여러채의 주택이 파손됐다고 말했습니다. 바이지시는 이라크 최대의 석유 정제소가 있는 곳으로 이라크 원유 수출의 핵심 도시이기도 합니다.
7일에는 폭력이 자주 발생하는 바그다드 북부 디야라주에서 두 건의 폭탄공격이 발생해26명이 숨지고 30명이 다쳤습니다. 이 중 한 건은 여성이 저지른 자살폭탄공격 이었습니다.
미군은 8일 이라크 북부와 중부에서 알-카에다 조직 소탕 작전을 펼쳐 반군 세력 중 12명이 숨지고 13명이 수감됐다고 밝혔습니다.
Iraqi police say a suicide car bomb has exploded in the northern city of Baiji, killing at least seven people and wounding 13 others.
Police say several homes were damaged in the blast today (Saturday) in a residential area of the city located about 250-kilometers north of Baghdad. Baiji has the country's largest oil refinery and is also a key point for crude oil being exported out of Iraq.
On Friday, two separate bombings in the volatile Diyala province - also north of Baghdad - killed 26 people and wounded about 30 others. One of the attacks was carried out by a female suicide bomber.
Separately, the U.S. military says coalition forces killed 12 insurgents and detained 13 suspects today (Saturday) in a series of raids against al-Qaida in Iraq networks in central and northern Iraq.
