25일 밤에 처음 진도 6.1의 지진이 숨바와 섬 서쪽으로 44킬로미터, 발리섬 덴파샤르에서 동쪽으로 349킬로미터 떨어진 해저 30킬로미터 지점에서 발생했다고, 미국 지질조사소가 밝혔습니다.
26일 새벽에 라바섬 서쪽으로 45킬로미터 떨어진 숨바와 섬 해저 30킬로미터 지점에서 진도6.4의 여진이 발생했습니다.
인도네시아 보건부 관계자는 이번 지진으로 인한 사망자 가운데에 어린이 한 명도 들어있다고 말했습니다. 이번 지진으로 수십채의 건물이 손상되거나 파괴됐습니다.
이날, 일본 이와키 시 동북쪽 부근 지하 39킬로미터 지점에서 진도 6.0의 지진이 발생했습니다. 이 지진으로 인한 사상자는 즉각 보고되지 않았습니다.

Two strong earthquakes jolted Indonesia Sunday and early today (Monday), killing three people and injuring at least 45 others. A separate quake today hit Japan.
The first Indonesian quake had a magnitude of six-point-one, and hit late Sunday off the coast of Sumatra (at a depth of 20 kilometers).
Early Monday, a second earthquake hit 45 kilometers west of Raba, a town on Sumbawa island (, at a depth of 30 kilometers). The U.S. Geological Survey estimated the quake's strength at a magnitude of six-point-four.
An Indonesian Health Ministry official (Rustam Pakaya) said one child was among those killed by the quake. Dozens of buildings were damaged or destroyed.
The quake in Japan hit near northeast of the city of Iwaki (and was at a depth of 39 kilometers) and was about a magnitude six. There were no immediate reports of deaths or injuries.
