앞서 18일 밤, 파키스탄 남부 도시 카라치에서 귀국 퍼레이드를 벌이던 부토 전 총리 일행의 차량 부근에서 두 차례 연쇄 폭탄테러가 발생, 최소 136명이 숨지고 3백여명이 다쳤습니다. 당국은 첫번째 폭탄은 수류탄에 의한 것이며, 보다 큰 폭발은 두번째의 한 자살폭탄공격범의 폭탄공격이었던 것으로 판단하고 있습니다.

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto says the deadly bomb attacks targeting her motorcade will not dissuade her struggle to bring democracy to Pakistan.
In her first comments since the twin blasts, Ms. Bhutto called the violence an attack on the integrity of Pakistan. She said she is prepared to risk her life for democracy, but added she is not prepared to surrender Pakistan to militants.
The attacks killed at least 136 people and wounded hundreds of others. Authorities believe the first blast was a hand grenade, while the second, larger explosion was caused by a suicide bomber.
At her press conference, Ms. Bhutto also said she knew an assassination attempt would happen when she returned to Pakistan on Thursday following eight years in exile.
She did not blame the government of President Pervez Musharraf. No one has claimed responsibility. A top Taliban commander has denied any involvement.
