폴슨 장관은 세계 경제는 서브프라임모기지, 즉 불량주택담보 대출로 최근 미국에서 시작된 금융 혼란에도 불구하고 건실하다고 말했습니다.
한편, IMF차기 총재 선출문제에 대해 폴슨 장관은 도미니크 스트로스-칸 프랑스 전 재무장관이 가장 유력한 총재 후보라고 말했습니다.
그는 또 사르코지 대통령의 각종 경제개혁 방안을 환영한다는 입장을 밝히고 "프랑스와 미국의 관계가 새로운 우호관계로 접어들고 있다고 확신한다"고 덧붙였습니다.

After meeting in Paris today (Monday) with his French counterpart (Christine Laguarde), Paulson cautioned against any quick decisions to increase market regulation.
Paulson said the world's economic underpinnings are financially sound despite the current turmoil that began with sub-prime mortgage loans in the United States.
The U.S. housing market has faced an increasing number of foreclosures as interest rates rose and home sales and prices declined in many markets.
The Treasury secretary also spoke positively about the candidacy of former French finance minister Dominique Strauss-Kahn as the new head of the International Monetary Fund.
