North Korea has thanked the international community for its help after flooding in August wiped out crops, hospitals and homes across the country.
Speaking with North Korean state media today (Wednesday) a foreign ministry spokesman thanked the United Nations and other countries - including the United States and China - for sending money and food donations.
North Korea says that more than 268 hectares of farm land have been destroyed, widening a food shortage that is already plaguing the country.
The foreign ministry says at least 560 hospitals and more than two-thousand-one-hundred clinics were washed away along with many medical supplies.
North Korea says about 600 people are dead or missing after heavy rains and floods in early August. The floods have displaced more than 100-thousand people.
