네팔의 마오쩌둥 공산반군이 수도 카트만두 북부에 있는 한 경찰초소를 습격해 경찰을 구타한 뒤 무기를 강탈해 갔다고 네팔 당국이 밝혔습니다.
네팔 관리들은 마오쩌둥 공산반군 24명이 9일 카트만두에서 북쪽으로 50 km 떨어진 지역의 경찰초소에서 3명의 경찰을 공격했다고 말했습니다.
이번 공격은 네팔정부와 공산반군이 지난해 게릴라 저항을 끝내는 평화협약을 맺은 뒤 발생한 첫 폭력사태입니다.
양측은 모두 이번 사건에 대해 철저한 조사를 촉구하고 있습니다.
Officials in Nepal say a group of Maoists stormed a police outpost north of Kathmandu, beat up the policemen, then stole their guns and some ammunition.
About two dozen Maoists are reported to have been involved in the attack on three policemen Thursday, nearly 50 kilometers north of the capital.
This is the first violence since communist rebels in Nepal signed a peace deal with the government last year ending their guerrilla insurgency.
Both the government and Maoist leaders are calling for a full investigation of the attack.
Some lawmakers in Nepal denounced the incident and said the attack raises questions about whether the Maoists really want peace.
