러시아는 이란이 핵 개발을 둘러싼 의혹을 해소 하지 않으면 핵연료를 공급하지 않을 것이라고 경고했습니다.
익명을 요구하는 한 외교 소식통은 7일 러시아가 지난달 외교 채널을 통해 이란 당국에 이같이 경고했다고 전했습니다. 러시아는 이란에 대해 만일 핵문제와 관련된 의구심을 말끔히 풀지 않으면 러시아가 건설중인 원자로에 핵연료를 제공하지 않을 것이라고 했습니다. 러시아가 부쉐르에 건설중인 원자로 공사는 이미 대금 결제 문제 때문에 당초 일정보다 늦어지고 있습니다.
한편 이란은 이날 유엔 사찰단이 핵시설에 접근하는 것을 허용할 뜻을 밝혔습니다. 유엔의 추가 제재를 피하기 위해서입니다. 유엔의 사찰단은 이번주 이란에 도착해 사찰 계획을 짤 예정입니다.
한편 이란의 마흐무드 아마디네자드 대통령은 이란이 평화로운 목적을 위해 원자력을 개발할 권리가 있다고 기존 주장을 되풀이 했습니다.
이에 앞서 조지 부시 미국 대통령은 이란 정권에 대해 “큰 실망”을 했다며 이란은 국제사회에서 더욱 고립될 수밖에 없을 것이라고 말했습니다.
미국과 동맹국들은 이란이 비밀리에 핵개발을 하고 있다고 말하고 있으나 이란당국은 이 같은 혐의를 부인하고 있습니다.

Diplomats say Russia has warned it will not deliver fuel to a Russian-built nuclear reactor in Iran unless Tehran clears up questions about its nuclear activities.
Unnamed diplomats said today (Tuesday) Russia issued the warning last month. Construction at the Bushehr plant is already behind schedule because of payment disputes.
Iran said today (Tuesday) it hopes its willingness to grant U.N. inspectors access to its most sensitive nuclear site will prevent a third set of U.N. sanctions. A U.N team arrived in Iran this week to develop a plan for future inspections.
In other developments, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad again defended his country's right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. During a trip to Algeria today, he denounced nations for trying to isolate his country over its nuclear program.
