미국 재무부의 몰리 밀러와이즈 대변인은 11일 미국은 마카오의 방코델타아시아은행에 동결됐던 북한 자금 이전을 용이케 하기 위해 러시아, 마카오 당국과 협력하고 있다며, 이 송금을 용이케 하려는 러시아 정부의 의지에 감사하고 있다고 말했습니다.
북한은 방코델타아시아은행에 동결돼 있는 2,500만달러의 북한 자금을 완전히 인수할 때까지는 영변원자로를 폐쇄하지 않을 것이라고 버티고 있습니다.
미국은 그동안 동결됐던 북한 자금을 해제하고 이를 북한에 송금하기 위해 미국, 중국 은행들과 협의해 왔지만, 은행들이 자금이체에 난색을 표명해, 지연돼 왔습니다.

The United States says it is working with authorities in Russia and Macao to end a financial dispute that has delayed North Korea's nuclear disarmament process.
A U.S. Treasury Department spokeswoman (Molly Millerwise) today (Monday) said the United States appreciates the willingness of the Russian government. Russia is to facilitate the transfer of 25-million dollars in North Korean funds from a bank in Macau.
North Korea has refused to shut down its main nuclear reactor, as it promised in February, until it receives the funds.
The money was frozen in the Macau bank in 2005, after the United States said the funds were tied to alleged money laundering by North Korea.
Washington unfroze the funds in March. But some U.S. and Chinese banks have been reluctant to help transfer the funds, which are widely seen as tainted by the U.S. allegations.
