미국의 조지 부시 대통령은 4일 백악관에서 리센룽 싱가포르 총리와 정상회담을 갖고 동남아시아 교역안보와 이라크전쟁에 관해 논의했습니다.
부시 대통령은 오는 9월 동남아시아국가연합 정상회담에 참석하는 길에 싱가포르를 방문해 달라는 리센룽 총리의 초청을 수락했다고 말했습니다.
부시 대통령은 또한 싱가포르 정부와 국민이 아프가니스탄에서 지역재건팀을 파견해준 데 대해 사의를 표했습니다.

U.S. President George Bush has met with the prime minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong, to talk about security in Southeast Asia trade, and the war in Iraq.
The two met today (Friday) at the White House. Mr. Bush said he has accepted Mr. Lee's invitation to visit Singapore in September, when he will meet with all 10 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, known as ASEAN.
He also thanked the government and people of Singapore for supporting a provincial reconstruction team in Afghanistan.
Mr. Lee said he thanked Mr. Bush for the steadfastness and resolve with which he is approaching problems in the Middle East, Iraq, Israel and the Palestinian territories. He said he supports Mr. Bush's refusal to schedule a withdrawal of troops from Iraq.
