President Bush is discussing trade issues this (Saturday) morning with his Uruguayan counterpart on the second leg of his five-nation Latin American tour.
Mr. Bush and Tabare Vazquez are meeting in the town of Colonia. Mr. Vazquez is hoping for better access to U.S. markets to sell Uruguayan goods, such as beef and textiles.
Demonstrators took to the streets of the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo Friday, chanting anti-U.S. slogans and burning effigies of the U.S. president. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez led thousands of protesters in another anti-Bush rally Friday in neighboring Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Mr. Bush says the U.S. "is not getting enough credit" for trying to improve conditions in the region.
