아프가니스탄 주둔 미군 관계관들은 미군 차량대열에 대한 무장괴한들의 매복 공격과 자살폭탄 공격으로 아프간 민간인 8명이 사망했다고 아프간 주둔 미군 관계관들이 밝혔습니다.
앞서 관계관들은 아프간 동부 잘랄라바드 부근에서 공격으로 민간인 16명이 사망했다고 말했으나 이같은 사망자 수는 아무런 설명도 없이 후에 수정됐습니다.
미군 관계관들은 4일 아프간 동부 잘랄라바드 부근에서 한 자살폭탄공격범이 타고 있던 차량을 미군 차량 대열에 돌진하고 다른 무장분자들이 총격을 가하기 사직한 뒤 미군이 이들을 향해 발포했다고 말했습니다.
미군 관계관들은 아프간의 민간인 희생자들이 미군 병력의 발포에 의해 사망한 것인지 아니면 공격대원들에 의해 사망했는지가 분명치 않다고 덧붙였습니다.
그러나 아프간 경찰은 이들 가운데 적어도 몇 명은 미군의 발포로 사망했다고 전했습니다.

U.S. military officials in Afghanistan now say eight Afghan civilians were killed after a suicide attack and ambush by gunmen on a U.S convoy.
Earlier, U.S. officials said 16 civilians died in the incident near the eastern city of Jalalabad, but the figure was later revised without explanation.
The military says U.S. troops opened fire after a suicide bomber rammed their convoy with his vehicle and other militants began shooting. U.S. officials say it is not clear if the civilians were killed by the American troops or the attackers.
Afghan police said it appeared at least some civilians were killed by U.S. gunfire. The Associated Press news service is quoting wounded Afghans as saying U.S. forces fired indiscriminately along a six-mile stretch of the busy highway where the incident took place.
