10일 동예루살렘의 회교 성지인 알-아크사 사원 부근에서 이스라엘 경찰과 팔레스타인 시위대들이 충돌했습니다.
이스라엘 경찰은 이날 구시가지 외곽에서 관광버스를 향해 빈병과 돌을 던지는 시위대를 해산시키기 위해 최루탄을 사용했습니다. 이 과정에서 적어도 6명이 체포됐습니다.
시위대들은 유태인들에게 템플 마운트, ‘성전산’으로 알려진 알-아크사 사원 부근에서 진행되고 있는 유적 발굴 및 보도공사에 항의하고 있습니다.
팔레스타인 인들은 이 공사가 알-아크사 사원의 기초를 훼손할 것이라고 말하고 있습니다.
유적발굴에 참가하고 있는 고고학자들은 템플 마운트에 이르는 보도공사는 알-아크사 사원 벽면에 아무런 손상을 주지 않을 것이라고 말했습니다.
이 분쟁지역은 유태인들에게 최고의 성지이며, 회교도들에게는 제 3의 성지입니다.

Israeli police and Palestinian demonstrators have clashed during a second day of protests near a holy site in East Jerusalem.
Police today (Saturday) used tear gas to disperse Palestinians who set fire to trash bins and threw stones at a tourist bus outside the Old City walls. At least six people were arrested.
The protesters are denouncing renovations that began in recent days near the Mosque of Al Aqsa, known to Jews as the Temple Mount. Palestinians say the construction could endanger the foundation of the mosque.
An archaeologist (Gideon Avni) says repairs to a walkway leading to Temple Mount will not damage any facet of the Al Aqsa Mosque.
The disputed site is the holiest place in Judaism and the third holiest in Islam.
