인도네시아 당국은 6일 수도 자카르타의 여러 지역이 아직까지 물에 잠겨있다고 밝혔습니다. 당국자들은 또한 오염된 물로 인해 수인성 전염병의 발생이 우려된다고 말했습니다.
수도 자카르타와 일대에서 홍수사태가 닷새째 계속되면서 44명이 사망하고 아직까지 최소한 29만명의 이재민들이 집으로 돌아가지 못하고 있습니다.
인도네시아 관리들은 자카르타 일부 지역에서는 물이 빠졌으나 아직도 많은 지역이 물에 잠겨있다고 말했습니다.
AP 통신에 따르면 일부 귀가한 주민들도 있는 것으로 알려졌습니다.
당국자들은 앞서 도시의 3분의 2가 물에 잠겼으며 일부 지역의 경우 수심이 4 미터에 달한다고 말했습니다.
보건당국은 자카르타의 우물물이 대부분 오염됐다고 말했습니다.
지붕위와 나무에 고립돼 있는 주민들을 돕기위해 구조대원 수천명이 헬기와 고무보트 등을 동원해 구조작업을 벌이고 있습니다.
자카르타 지역에는 앞으로 2주동안 더 많은 비가 내릴 것으로 예상되고 있습니다.

Indonesian authorities say huge areas of the capital remain submerged today (Tuesday), and warn of the rising risk of waterborne diseases.
A police spokesman (Colonel I Ketut Untung Yoga Ana) says the death toll from five days of floods in Jakarta and surrounding areas is now 44. At least 290-thousand people are still unable to return to their homes.
Flooding has receded in some parts of Jakarta, but much of the city is still under water. Earlier, authorities said that two-thirds of the city was under water, four meters deep in some places.
Health authorities say much of Jakarta's well water has been contaminated.
Thousands of rescue personnel have had to use helicopters and inflatable boats to rescue people from rooftops and trees. More rain is forecast for the next two weeks.
