미국 재무부는 북한과 콜롬비아가 고정밀도의 미국 달러화 위조지폐를 계속 제조하는 주요 국가들이라고 말했습니다.
미 재무부는 26일 발표한 새 보고서에서 콜롬비아에서 지난해 2천 3백만달러 상당의 위조 지폐가 회수됐다며 콜롬비아는 지구촌 최대의 달러화 위조 지폐 제조국이라고 밝혔습니다. 미 재무부는 콜롬비아내 마약 밀매업자들이 대부분의 위조 지폐를 제조하고 있다고 비난했습니다.
미 재부부 보고서는 또 북한 정부가 매우 정교한 위조 지폐인 이른바 수퍼노트의 제조를 지원하고 있다고 비난했습니다. 보고서는 지난 1989년 수퍼노트가 처음으로 발견된 이후 지금까지 5천만 달러가 회수됐다고 말했습니다.

The United States says groups in Colombia and North Korea remain key sources of counterfeit U.S. dollars, including some high-quality forgeries. In a new report, the U.S. Treasury says more than 23 million dollars in fake notes were seized in Colombia last year - far more than in any other nation.
It blames drug traffickers for most of the counterfeit activity. The report also renews concern about North Korea's government, which it accuses of helping to produce very high-quality forgeries called "supernotes."
Some 50 million dollars in supernotes have been seized since they were discovered in 1989. The Treasury report says new areas of concern for counterfeiting are Peru and the Caucasus.
Officials also expressed concern about the growing availability of computer equipment that can be used to produce fake dollars.
