이란의 마후무드 아흐마디네자드 대통령은 이란은 서방세계의 압력에 굴복해 자국의 핵프로그램을 포기하지 않을 것이라고 거듭 밝혔습니다.
아흐마디네자드 대통령은 19일 텔레비젼 연설에서 이란은 핵기술 개발 권리를 포기하지 않을 것이라고 말했습니다.
이란 대통령의 이날 발언은 유엔 안보리의 강대국들이 이란에 대해 제재 결의안을 검토하고 있는 가운데 나왔습니다.
앞서 이란의 알리 라리자니 핵협상 대표는 18일 유엔 안보리가 이란에 제재를 부과하면 이란은 향후 핵 프로그램에 대한 추가 협상을 거부할 것이라고 경고했습니다.
Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said, once again, that Tehran will not give in to Western pressure over the country's nuclear program.
In a televised address today (Thursday), Mr. Ahmadinejad said Iran will not give up its right to develop nuclear technology.
The Iranian president's comments come as major powers work towards a United Nations Security Council resolution on sanctions against Iran.
On Wednesday, Iran's nuclear negotiator (Ali Larijani) warned that Iran would reject future negotiations on its nuclear program if the Council imposes sanctions. He said sanctions would "radicalize" the situation.
On Tuesday, European Union foreign ministers announced that the EU favors limited sanctions against Iran. In a series of meetings, the EU's foreign policy chief (Javier Solana) failed to persuade Iran to halt nuclear enrichment.
