한편, 유럽연합 지도자들은 이란에 대한 제재문제를 검토하기 위해 17일 회의를 갖습니다. 유럽연합의 하비에르 솔라나 외교정책 대표는 이란의 알리 라리자니 핵협상 수석대표와 여러 차례 회담을 가졌으나 이란의 우라늄 농축활동 중지를 설득하지 못했습니다.

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says the quick U.N. response to North Korea's claim of a nuclear test should send a signal to Iran about its nuclear ambitions.
Rice's warning today (Monday) echoes comments U.S. ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton made Sunday. Bolton said he hopes Iran understands it will face the same kind of isolation and sanctions imposed on North Korea if it continues to pursue nuclear weapons.
