어제 뉴욕시에서 발생한 경비행기 추락사고 원인을 밝히기위한 조사가 계속되고있습니다.
11일, 경비행기 한 대가 뉴욕시 맨하탄의 고층 아파트 건물에 추락해 이 비행기에 타고있던 프로 야구팀 뉴욕 양키스의 투수 코리 리들과 비행교사 등 두 명이 숨졌습니다.
올해 34살인 코리 리들은 불과 몇개월전 양키스에 입단했으며 사고 비행기의 소유주였습니다.
이 비행기는 뉴저지주 테테 보로 공항을 이륙한 뒤 뉴욕항을 지나 자유의 여신상을 한바퀴 돈 뒤 북쪽으로 향하던 중 추락했습니다.
사고 비행기는 좌우로 심하게 흔들리다가 맨하탄의 40층 건물의 옆으로 돌진했습니다.
사고직전 누가 조종간을 잡고있었는지는 아직 확실치 않습니다.

The investigation continues today (Thursday) into Wednesday's spectacular crash of a small plane into a high-rise apartment building in New York City.
The crash killed a member of the New York Yankees baseball team and one other man, said to be the baseball player's flight instructor.
Cory Lidle, a (34-year-old) pitcher who joined the Yankees just a few months ago, owned the single-engine aircraft (a Cirrus SR20). After taking off from a nearby small airport in New Jersey (Teterboro), the plane flew over New York harbor and circled the Statue of Liberty (one of the United States' best-known monuments), then headed north on the last leg of its brief, ill-fated flight.
It is not clear whether Lidle or his flying instructor was at the controls when the light plane began flying erratically ( -- banking sharply from side to side -- ) then steered directly into the side of a tall (40-story) apartment building.
