이라크 정부는 현 수니파 부통령의 형제가 바그다드 북부에서 괴한의 총격에 살해됐다고 발표했습니다.
괴한은 9일 숨진 아미르 알-하시미의 집에 침입해서 하시미를 살해했습니다. 알-하시미는 타리크 알-하시미 부통령의 형제로 이라크 국방부 고위 관리였습니다.
타리크 알-하시미 부통령은 이라크 의회 내 최대 수니 당인 이슬라믹 당 소속입니다. 특히 지난해에도 형제와 자매가 무장 세력의 공격으로 숨지는 비극을 겪었습니다.
한편 이라크 북부 탈 아파르에서는 9일 경찰 검문소에 자살 폭탄 공격이 가해져, 이라크 경찰 1 명이 숨지고 민간인 등 11명이 부상을 당했습니다.
또 8일 오후에는 이라크 군기지에서 고기를 먹은 경찰 수백명이 식중독 증세를 일으켜, 정부가 수사를 벌이고 있습니다.

Iraqi officials say gunmen have killed a brother of Iraqi's Sunni vice president in northern Baghdad.
The attackers stormed into the man's home early today (Monday) and shot him dead. The victim, Amir al-Hashimi, was a senior official in Iraq's defense ministry and a brother of Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi.
The vice president is a member of the Iraqi Islamic Party, one of the largest Sunni parties in parliament. Insurgents killed his sister and another brother in separate attacks during the past year.
In other violence, a suicide car bomber slammed into an Iraqi police checkpoint in the northern town of Tal Afar today. One Iraqi policeman was killed and 11 other people were wounded, including civilians.
Separately, Iraqi authorities say hundreds of policemen fell ill late Sunday after eating a meal at a military base (in the eastern town of Numaniya).
Authorities are investigating whether the food poisoning was accidental or deliberate.
