살인혐의로 수배중인 전 캄보디아 경찰청장이 싱가포르에서 검거돼 구금중이라고 말레이시아와 캄보디아 관계관들이 말했습니다.
헹 포브 전 캄보디아 경찰청장은 지난 7월, 싱가포르에 입국했다가 비자 만료기간을 넘겨 체포됐다고 싱가포르 당국이 밝힌 것으로 말레이시아의 베르나마 통신이 보도했습니다.
싱가포르는 그러나 캄보디아와와 범인인도 협정을 체결하 않았기 때문에 헹 포브를 말레이시아로 이송할 것으로 예상된다고 베르나마 통신은 전했습니다.
헹 포브는 지난 2003년에 캄보디아 수도 프놈펜시 법원 판사 살해음모 혐의를 비롯해 신문 발행인, 검사, 현 캄보디아 경찰청장 등에 대한 살해기도 등 여러 가지 혐의로 지명수배 돼 있습니다.
헹 포브는 그러나 자신에 대한 혐의는 한 때 자신의 동지였던 훈 센 현 캄보디아 총리 보좌관에 의해 조작된 것이라고 주장하고 있습니다.

Cambodian and Malaysian officials say a fugitive former Cambodian police chief facing murder charges in his homeland has been taken into custody in Singapore.
Authorities say Heng Pov, who entered Singapore in July, was arrested there last week for over-staying his visa.
Malaysia's Bernama news agency says Singapore police are expected to transfer Heng Pov to Kuala Lumpur, because Singapore and Cambodia do not have an extradition treaty.
The suspect is accused of plotting the murder of a Phnom Penh municipal court judge in 2003. He also is accused of involvement in attempts to kill a newspaper publisher, a prosecutor, and Cambodia's national police chief.
Heng Pov has denied the charges. Once an advisor to Prime Minister Hun Sen, Heng Pov says he has been framed by his one-time ally.
