이보다 앞서 작크 시락 프랑스 대통령은 이란의 반응이 모호하다고 지적했으며 미 국무부 대변인은 이란이 우라늄 농축활동을 8월31일까지 중단하지 않을 경우 미국은 이란에 대한 제재조치 유엔의 결의를 강행할 것이라고 말했습니다.
그러나 러시아의 세르게이 이바노프 국방장관은 이란에 대해 핵개발 계획 분쟁문제로 제재를 가하기는 시기상조라고 말했습니다

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov says it is premature to talk about U.N. sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program.
Ivanov told reporters today (Friday) that efforts to resolve the dispute through negotiations should be given more time.
The European Union's foreign policy chief (Javier Solana) says that the EU is seeking new talks with Iran to clarify Tehran's response to a package of incentives. World powers offered the incentives if Iran suspended uranium enrichment.
Earlier today, French President Jacques Chirac called Iran's response "ambiguous."
A State Department spokesman (Gonzago Gallegos) said Washington will push for sanctions if Iran does not halt the sensitive nuclear work by an August 31st U.N. deadline.
In Tehran, Ahmad Khatami, a senior cleric, said Iran rejects what he called "the language of force."
