연합군 관계관들은 이번 전투가 쿠나르 주의 한 마을에서 무장세력들이 먼저 아프간 군과 연합군을 향해 총격을 가하면서 시작됐다고 말했습니다.
연합군 대변인은, 알 카에다와 연계된 것으로 의심되는 7명의 무장분자들 외에 어린이 한명이 사망하고 여성 한명도 부상했다고 말했습니다.
그러나 현지 아프간 관리들은 24일 사망한 사람들은 알 카에다 테러조직과 무관한 민간인들이라고 말했습니다.

Afghan and U.S.-led coalition forces say they killed seven suspected al-Qaida militants during a gunbattle today (Thursday) in eastern Afghanistan.
Local Afghan officials in Kunar province, however, have conflicting accounts of what happened.
Military officials say the fighting broke out in a village where militants had opened fire on coalition forces.
In addition to the seven militants suspected of links to al-Qaida, coalition spokesmen say one Afghan child was killed and a woman from the village was wounded. They add that no Afghan or American troops were injured during the operation.
Local Afghan officials, however, say those killed in today's fighting were civilians who had no connection to the al-Qaida terror network.
