레바논의 푸아드 시니오라 총리는 23일, 이스라엘과 헤즈볼라 게릴라들 사이에 한달간 계속된 전투가 있은 후 레바논 재건을 위한 원조를 늘려줄 것을 미국에 촉구했습니다.
푸아드 시니오라 총리는 이날, 미국에게 이스라엘로 하여금 레바논 봉쇄를 해제하고 다른 나라들이 재정적 정치적 지원을 확대하도록 압력을 가해 줄 것을 촉구했습니다.
이스라엘은 남부 레바논과 베이루트 국제공항 그리고 시리아 국경에 유엔 평화유지군이 배치될 때까지 봉쇄를 유지할 것이라고 말했습니다.
시리아의 왈리드 무알렘 외무 장관은 23일 헬싱키에서 핀란드 외무장관에게 국제 평화 유지군이 시리아 국경에 주둔한다면 시리아는 시리아-레바논 간 국경을 폐쇄할 것이라고 말했습니다.
한편, 23일, 남부 레바논에서 지뢰 폭발로 한명의 이스라엘 군 병사가 사망했습니다. 그 밖의 지역에서 폭발되지 않은 폭탄을 해제하려다 폭탄이 폭발해 3명의 레바논 병사가 사망했습니다. 그 밖에 국제사면위원회는 레바논의 민간 공격물을 의도적으로 공격했다고 이스라엘을 비난했습니다.

Lebanon's prime minister is calling on the United States to do more to help his country rebuild after the month-long war between Israel and Hezbollah guerrillas.
Fuad Siniora today (Wednesday) also called on the United States to pressure Israel to end its blockade of Lebanon, and to press other countries to increase their financial and political support.
Israel has said it will keep the blockade until international peacekeepers are deployed in southern Lebanon, at Beirut's international airport, and along the Syrian border. Syria's Foreign Minister Walid Mualem told his Finnish counterpart (Erkki Tuomioja) in Helsinki today that Syria will close the border with Lebanon if peacekeepers are stationed there.
Meanwhile, an Israeli land mine killed an Israeli soldier today (Wednesday) in southern Lebanon. Elsewhere, a blast killed three Lebanese soldiers as they tried to disarm unexploded ordnance.
In other developments, Amnesty International has criticized Israel for what the organization describes as deliberate attacks on civilian targets in Lebanon. Israel denies the charge.
