중국은 태국과 라오스의 조류독감이 가금류 때문에 발생했을 가능성이 있다는 유엔 식량농업기구의 보고서를 일축했습니다. 중국 정부는 이 보고서가 무책임하다고 말했다고 관영언론들이 보도했습니다.
유엔 식량농업기구는 지난 17일 태국 나콘 파놈과 라오스 비엔티안 지역에서 발생한 조류독감 바이러스가 이전에 보지 못했던 것으로 중국에서 발견된 것과 유사하다고 말했습니다.
이에 대해 중국 농업부는 중국은 2004년 이래 태국이나 라오스에 가금류를 수출하지 않았다면서, 야생 조류에 의해 전파됐을 가능성을 내비쳤습니다.
농업부는 또 조류독감 발생 지역은 중국 국경에서 멀리 떨어진 곳이라고 지적했습니다.

China has rejected a U.N. assessment that bird flu outbreaks in Thailand and Laos likely were caused by infected Chinese poultry.
Chinese state media report today (Sunday) the Ministry of Agriculture has called the report irresponsible.
The U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization said last Thursday that outbreaks in Thailand's Nakhon Phanom province and Vientiane in Laos were caused by strains that had not been seen there before, and resembled ones found in China.
China's agriculture ministry says the country has not exported poultry to Thailand or Laos since 2004, and suggested the virus could be spread by wild birds. It also said the outbreak sites were far from the Chinese border.
