일본 정부 대변인인 아베 신조 관방장관은, 일본이 이같은 조사를 매년 실시해왔다며 조사계획이 있음을 확인했으나, 아직 확실히 결정된 것은 없다고 말했습니다.

South Korea's foreign minister says Japan has sent notification of plans to conduct a survey for radioactive waste in disputed waters.
Ban Ki-moon today (Wednesday) said if Japan wants to conduct a survey inside South Korea's Exclusive Economic Zone, it must get permission from Seoul. He did not specify when or where the survey would be conducted, but said he would discuss the issue during a trip to Japan next week.
Japan's top government spokesman (Shinzo Abe) confirmed Tokyo's plan to carry out a survey. He said no specific decision had been made, noting the surveys are conducted every year.
Relations between the countries have been strained by a conflict over the ownership of islands in their overlapping economic zones. The islands are surrounded by rich fishing waters and possible deposits of methane hydrate, used to produce natural gas.
