라이스 장관은 30일 시니오라 총리와의 전화 통화에서 레바논 민간인들의 사망에 깊은 애도를 표했습니다. 라이스 장관은 이스라엘과 헤즈볼라간의 가능한 한 조속한 정전을 촉구했으나 즉각적인 폭력 사태 종식은 촉구하지 않았습니다.
이스라엘을 다시 방문한 라이스 장관은 앞서 29일 이스라엘의 에후드 올메르트 총리와 다른 관계관들과 만났습니다. 올메르트 총리는 헤즈볼라에 대한 공세 작전의 주요 목표가 달성될 때까지는 정전을 서두르지 않을 것이라고 다짐했습니다.

Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora has called off talks with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice after an Israeli strike killed at least 50 Lebanese civilians.
Mr. Siniora says the only topics that should be discussed now are an immediate and unconditional ceasefire and an international investigation into what he calls "Israeli massacres."
Ms. Rice spoke by telephone with Mr. Siniora today (Sunday) and said she was deeply saddened by the civilian deaths. She has called for a ceasefire to Israeli-Hezbollah fighting as soon as possible, but did not urge an immediate end to the violence.
Rice is in Israel, where she met Saturday with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and other officials. Mr. Olmert says Israel is in no hurry for a ceasefire until its main objectives of the offensive are reached.
