미국은 북한이 또 다시 어떤 형태의 핵협상에 복귀하지 않을 것이라고 밝힌데 대해 강경 반응으로 응수했습니다.
미국의 핵협상 수석대표인 크리스토퍼 힐 국무부 동아시아태평양 담당 차관보는 30일, 필리핀을 방문중 나온 북한의 거부에 대한 반응으로 북한이 국제사회로부터 고립되기를 원한다면 미국은 기꺼이 북한을 고립시킬 것이라고 맞받았습니다.
북핵 사태 해결을 위한 6자회담의 미국, 한국 등 다섯 당사국 대표들과 호주, 캐나다, 인도네시아, 말레이시아, 뉴질랜드 대표들은 동남아국가연합, 아세안의 연례 지역안보 포럼때 별도로 회의를 열어 북핵 사태를 논의했으나 북한은 이 회의에 참석하기를 거부했습니다.

Washington's top negotiator on the North Korean nuclear stalemate says the reclusive state is at risk of being further isolated from the international community.
Speaking during a visit to the Philippines, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill said today (Sunday) if North Korea wants to get isolated, the U.S. will be happy to isolate it.
His remarks are apparently a reaction to North Korea's refusal to rejoin any type of discussions on its nuclear program, passing by an opportunity at last week's Southeast Asian regional security forum in Malaysia.
Five negotiating partners on the North Korean nuclear issue, along with other concerned nations, discussed the situation on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) annual forum. North Korea refused to attend the nuclear talks.
