외교관들은 북한의 핵 분규와 버마 군사정부, 중동 분쟁등에 초점이 맞추어질 공동 성명을 준비중에 있다고 말했습니다.
아세안의 다른 관계관들은 버마 군사 정부가 약속했던 민주 개혁을 단행하지 못하고 있는데 대해 좌절감을 표명했습니다. 이들 관계관은 버마 문제가 유엔안전보장이사회로 회부될 수도 있다고 말했습니다.
아세안 지도자들은 또한 현재 교착상태에 빠져있는 북한의 핵 관련 6자 회담을 추진하기 위한 방안도 고려 중에 있습니다.
아세안은 오는 27일 말레이시아 수도 쿠알라 룸푸르에서의 안보 포름을 주최합니다. 이 포름에는 콘돌리자 라이스 미국 국무장관과 백남순 북한 외무상도 참석할 것으로 보입니다.

Officials from Southeast Asian nations have gathered in Malaysia ahead of an annual meeting of regional foreign ministers this week.
Diplomats said they were preparing a communiqué that would focus on the North Korean nuclear dispute, Burma's military government and the Middle East conflict.
Some officials from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations have expressed frustration at Burma's military regime for failing to carry out promised democratic reforms.
They say the issue could be referred to the United Nations Security Council.
ASEAN leaders are also considering ways to advance stalled six-party talks on the North Korean nuclear dispute.
The regional bloc is hosting a forum in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, which is expected to include U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and her North Korean counterpart (Foreign Minister Paek Nam-sun).
