세계식량계획 WFP는 20일, 중국이 현재 미국과 유럽연합 다음으로 세계 제 3위의 식량 원조 공여국이라고 밝혔습니다.
세계식량계획은 2005년에 중국의 대외식량 원조가 전년대비 250%가 증가해 전세계 식량 원조 증가물량의 절반 이상을 차지했다고 밝혔습니다.
중국의 약 60만톤의 대외식량 원조는 대부분 북한에 제공됐습니다. 지난해 모두 110만톤의 식량 원조가 북한에 제공됐으며, 이 원조의 대부분은 중국과 한국이 제공한 것입니다.

The World Food Program says China is now the world's third biggest donor of food aid (after the United States and the European Union).
The U.N. agency says (today / Thursday) China's food-aid donations increased by more than 250 percent last year (compared to 2004), and accounted for more than half of the overall rise in donations throughout the world.
Most of the nearly 600 thousand (577,000) tons of food assistance from China was directed to North Korea. More than one million (1.1 mln) tons of food aid went to the communist state last year -- almost all of it from China and South Korea.
