한국 최대의 자동차회사인 현대자동차 는 20일, 거의 한달째 그치지 않고 있는 노조 파업으로 인한 생산 차질때문에 자동차 수출을 일시 중단했다고 밝혔습니다.
현대자동차 노조는 9% 임금 인상과 근로조건 개선 요구조건을 관철시키기 위해 지난 6월 26일부터 하루에 몇시간씩 부분파업을 계속해 오고 있습니다.
현대자동차는 노조의 파업으로 인한 생산 차질로 인해 지금까지 10억 달러 이상의 손실이 발생했다고 말했습니다. 이같은 손실은 적어도 7만 8,000대의 자동차 수출에 상당하는 것입니다.
현대자동차 노조는 지난 1987년부터 거의 연례적으로 파업을 벌여왔습니다. 이같은 파업은 노사협상의 통상적인 방식이 되고 있습니다.

South Korea's largest automaker, Hyundai Motor, says it has stopped exporting cars because of a production shortfall caused by an ongoing labor strike.
Union workers at the carmaker have been on strike for several hours a day since June 26th to press their demands for a nine-percent pay raise and better working conditions.
Hyundai Motor says the partial work stoppages have cost the company more than one-billion dollars in lost production.
The shortfall is equivalent to at least 78-thousand cars.
The automaker says overseas outlets still have several months' worth of cars in stock. It says deliveries to overseas customers will not be affected in the short term, but warned there could be delays if the strike continues.
Hyundai's labor union has held regular work stoppages since 1987. The strikes are often a part of the bargaining process.
